Regular Visual Termite Inspection

Protect your property with regular termite identification inspections

Timber pests and more specifically, termite invasions are frustrating, costly and damaging for property owners throughout Australia. Being constantly at risk for termite infestation, it is important to get an annual visual termite inspection completed within your home to determine if termites are present. Termites are particularly focused on climatic conditions that are warm, yet moist and damp and therefore the coastal regions of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Port Stephens and Hunter Valley are much more susceptible.

How often should a regular visual termite inspection be completed?

Regular visual termite inspections should be conducted at minimum once a year, but can be completed more often if your property is located in an area that is more susceptible to termite infestations. They form an important part of the regular maintenance routine for your property.

Why should I get a regular visual termite inspection?

The primary reason to get a regular visual termite inspection is for prevention. Regular inspections identify issues early before extensive damage has been incurred. It also assists in avoiding termites all together as management and prevention strategies can be employed before an infestation occurs.

What is involved in visual termite inspection?

The inspection involves a visual assessment of the property for the presence of termites. Your CTP inspector will examine:

  • Interior of the property including walls, floors and all wet areas (kitchen, bathroom and laundry)
  • Subfloor areas including under the property, supporting structures, floor timber and structural pillars
  • External structures to check for termite entry points and possible moisture leaks as attractants for termites
  • Roof voids including timber rafters
  • Surrounding areas of the property which can harbour termite activity such as nearby trees, stumps, fences and outside buildings

What happens after my visual termite inspection?

After your inspection has been completed, your inspector will provide you with a comprehensive yet easy to understand report that outlines the results of their observations and testing. It will indicate if termites are present, and the appropriate repairs required in the event of an infestation. If your property is termite free, the inspector will also be able to provide you with advice for preventative strategies to keep it that way.
With regular visual termite inspections, you are also able to monitor the progress of your termite prevention strategies and whether further steps need to be taken to combat an infestation.
